What is PNG to JPG?

PNG uses lossless compression and supports full transparency, making it ideal for graphics and logos. JPG (JPEG) uses lossy compression that discards some image data to achieve much smaller file sizes — a great trade-off for photographs and web images where perfect pixel accuracy is not required.

Because JPG has no alpha channel, converting PNG to JPG flattens any transparent areas onto a white background. If your PNG has important transparent regions (e.g. a logo), consider whether JPG is the right target format or whether WebP would preserve more quality.

The quality slider lets you choose from 10 % (smallest file, most compression artefacts) to 100 % (near-lossless, largest file). A value of 85–92 % is typically the sweet spot for web use.

FAQ

Will my PNG's transparent background become white when converted to JPG?
Yes. JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent pixels in your PNG are composited onto a white background during conversion.
How small will the converted JPG be compared to the original PNG?
It depends on the image content and quality setting. Photographs can shrink by 60–80 %, while graphics with large flat-colour areas may see smaller gains. Try the quality slider to find the best balance for your image.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.
