How to use Excel Unlocker

  1. Drag and drop your protected Excel (.xlsx) file, or click browse to select it.
  2. Check the protection options you wish to strip (Sheet Protection and/or Workbook Protection).
  3. Click 'Unlock & Download XLSX' to generate and save your unprotected file.

What is Excel Unlocker?

When a worksheet or workbook structure in Excel is protected, the protection configuration is saved inside the file's XML markup. Because modern Excel (.xlsx) files are actually zipped folders of XML documents, this tool unzips the file, strips the <sheetProtection> and <workbookProtection> elements, and zips it back up. This removes editing/structural limits instantly without needing to crack any password hash.

Note: This tool only handles sheet/structure editing protections. It does not decrypt files that require a password to open (i.e. full workbook encryption). Everything happens locally on your machine — your files are never sent to any server.
