What is Document Scanner?
This document scanner lets you capture or upload a photo of a document and turn it into a clean, straightened scan. It uses edge detection (Sobel contrast analysis) to automatically find the document corners, then applies a perspective warp to flatten and straighten the document.
Fine-tune the results with draggable corner handles for manual adjustment, brightness and contrast sliders, a sharpen filter, and an optional black-and-white threshold for crisp text documents. Export your finished scan as a high-quality PNG image or a PDF file.
All processing is done client-side using Canvas 2D — your document images never leave your device.
FAQ
- Does this work with curved or folded documents?
- The perspective correction works best on flat documents photographed at an angle. Severely curved or folded documents may require additional flattening that this tool does not provide.
- What image formats can I use?
- You can upload PNG, JPEG, WebP, and other common image formats. You can also take a photo directly using your device camera or paste an image from your clipboard.
- Are my document images secure?
- Yes. All processing — edge detection, perspective correction, and adjustments — is done entirely in your browser using Canvas 2D. Your document images are never uploaded to any server.
- What export formats are available?
- You can export as a PNG image (lossless) or as a PDF file. You can also copy the scanned image directly to your clipboard.
