Test your monitor's pixel response time with two animated test patterns: a flying square (UFO ghosting test) and a pursuit camera bar pattern. Detect ghosting, trailing, and slow pixel transitions — all in your browser.
Flying Square: Watch the moving white square. Ghosting/trailing behind it indicates slow pixel response time. Faster monitors show less trail. Pursuit Camera: Take a photo of the scrolling bars with your phone. The blur/gap between bars indicates your monitor's response time. Sharper bars = faster response.

How to use Response Time Test
Select Flying Square mode and watch the moving white square — look for ghosting or trails behind it.
Adjust the speed slider to increase/decrease pixels per frame. Faster speeds make ghosting more visible.
Switch to Pursuit Camera mode, point your phone camera at the scrolling bars, and take a photo.
Examine the photo: wider blur between bars indicates slower response time. Compare photos at different speeds.
What is Response Time Test?
Monitor response time measures how quickly a pixel can change from one color to another. Slow response times cause visible ghosting or trailing behind moving objects — most noticeable in fast-paced games and video. This tool provides two test patterns:
Flying Square: A white square moves rapidly across a black background. A slow panel will show a visible trail or ghost behind the square. Adjust the speed slider to find the threshold where ghosting becomes visible.
Pursuit Camera: Alternating black and white bars scroll horizontally. Point your phone camera at the screen and take a photo — the width of the blur between bars directly correlates to your monitor's response time. Sharper bars = faster panel.

FAQ
What is a good monitor response time?
1-4ms (gray-to-gray) is typical for gaming TN and IPS panels. 5-8ms is common for VA panels. Above 10ms, ghosting becomes visible in fast motion. The UFO/flying square test makes ghosting plainly visible.
How does the pursuit camera test work?
The scrolling bar pattern creates a known motion speed. When you photograph it, the motion blur width on each bar edge equals (response time x scroll speed). This is the same method used by professional reviewers like Blur Busters and RTINGS.
Does this tool actually measure response time in milliseconds?
No — it provides a visual test only. For precise ms measurements, you need specialized hardware. However, the visual patterns clearly reveal whether your monitor has fast, average, or slow response time compared to reference displays.
