How to use Bass Tuner

  1. Click Start Tuner and allow microphone access.
  2. Pluck a single bass string clearly and let the note sustain.
  3. Adjust your tuning peg based on the note name and cents display — green means in tune.

What is Bass Tuner?

This bass tuner is specifically optimized for low-frequency detection. It uses larger analysis buffers (8192 samples at higher FFT resolution) and a lower detection floor (down to 20 Hz) to accurately capture bass fundamentals that simple tuners often miss.

All processing runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your bass signal never leaves your device.

FAQ

Why is bass harder to tune electronically?
Bass frequencies (30–130 Hz) have long wavelengths. Simple tuners can struggle because the analysis window may not capture enough full cycles. This tuner uses larger buffers (8192 samples) and higher FFT sizes to resolve bass fundamentals accurately.
Can I use this for 4-string bass (EADG)?
Yes. The tuner detects any chromatic note. It highlights whichever of the 6 displayed strings you're closest to. For 4-string, focus on E1, A1, D2, G2 and ignore B0 and C3.
Does it work with a pick or fingers?
Both work fine. For best results, pluck cleanly without slapping and let the note ring — the sustained tone gives the autocorrelation algorithm more data to work with.
Is my audio sent to a server?
No. All pitch detection runs locally in your browser. No audio data ever leaves your device.
