  4. Check off each step as you complete it and watch your progress bar fill up.

What is Task Breakdown Tool?

ADHD and executive dysfunction can make even simple tasks feel overwhelming. A task like 'clean the kitchen' contains dozens of micro-decisions — where to start, what to do first, how long each part takes. This tool helps by breaking a big task into small, concrete actions. Each micro-step is specific enough that you know exactly what to do: 'put one plate in the dishwasher' instead of 'do the dishes.'

Check off steps as you go and watch the progress bar fill up. If a step still feels too big, click the 'stuck?' button to break it into even smaller sub-steps. Add optional time estimates per step to help with planning. Everything is saved automatically in your browser.

FAQ

How does the auto-breakdown work?
It uses simple keyword matching on your task name to suggest relevant micro-steps. 'Clean kitchen' suggests wiping surfaces, sweeping, taking out trash. You can always edit or replace any step — the real value is in having a concrete starting point.
What if a step still feels too big?
Click the 'stuck?' button next to any step. It will add 4-5 even smaller sub-steps below it, like 'Get ready', 'Gather materials', 'Start with 2 minutes', 'Do the main part', and 'Finish up'. Keep breaking down until each step feels doable.
Is my data saved?
Yes, your task breakdown is saved automatically to your browser's localStorage. Click 'Save' to persist manually or 'Load' to restore a previous breakdown. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
