How to use Favicon Generator

  1. Choose your source: upload an image by dragging it onto the drop zone or clicking Browse, or switch to Letter/emoji mode and type a character with your chosen background and text colors.
  2. For image uploads the tool auto-generates the 512px master canvas; for text mode click Generate from text to render it.
  3. Download each file individually — favicon.ico, the PNG sizes, and site.webmanifest — then copy the HTML snippet and paste it between your page's opening and closing head tags.

What is Favicon Generator?

Modern websites need more than a single favicon.ico. Browsers, iOS home screens, and Android PWA launchers each expect different file sizes and formats: a 16×32×48-resolution .ico for classic browsers, a 180×180 PNG for Apple Touch Icon, 192×192 and 512×512 PNGs declared in a web app manifest, plus the correct link and meta tags to tie it all together. This tool generates the full set in one step.

The letter/emoji mode is handy when you need a quick branded placeholder — type a single character, pick background and text colors, and the tool renders it at 512px using the browser's font renderer before scaling down to every required size. The result is a clean, legible icon even at 16×16.

Everything runs client-side using the Canvas API and the binary ICO encoding algorithm. Your images never leave your device, and there are no file-size limits beyond your browser's memory.

FAQ

What files does the favicon package include?
The generator produces: favicon.ico (containing 16, 32, and 48px PNG frames), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180×180), favicon-192x192.png, favicon-512x512.png, site.webmanifest, and the HTML head snippet linking them all.
What image size should I upload for best results?
A square image of at least 512×512 pixels gives the sharpest downscales at every size. Non-square images are center-cropped automatically. SVG files are also supported, though they are rasterized to a 512px canvas internally.
Can I use an emoji as my favicon?
Yes — switch to Letter/emoji mode, type your emoji into the input, choose background and text colors, and click Generate from text. The emoji is rendered by your OS font engine, so appearance may vary slightly across platforms, but it will be recognizable at all icon sizes.
