What is Batch File Renamer?

Our batch file renamer lets you rename dozens of files at once without installing any software. Choose a rename pattern — sequential numbering (file_001, file_002, ...), date stamps using the current date (photo_2026-06-17.jpg), or find and replace to swap text in filenames. Each file has a checkbox to include or exclude it from the operation.

Preview every file's old and new name side by side, then download a ZIP archive containing all renamed files. Everything runs in your browser — files are never uploaded to any server, making this a completely private renaming solution.

FAQ

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All renaming and ZIP creation happens entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
What rename patterns are available?
Sequential numbering (with custom prefix, start number, and padding), date stamps based on today's date, and find/replace on filenames. You can also combine date stamps with sequential numbering.
How many files can I rename at once?
The tool supports up to 200 files in a single batch. Performance depends on file sizes since the ZIP is created in your browser.
What happens if two renamed files have the same name?
The tool automatically detects naming conflicts and appends a number (1), (2), etc. to keep every filename unique inside the ZIP.
