How to use Rebar Weight Calculator

  1. Select the bar diameter from the dropdown (6-40mm).
  2. Enter the bar length per piece (typically 12m for standard bars).
  3. Enter the number of bars.
  4. Read the weight per meter, weight per bar, and total weight in the results cards.
  5. Use the reference table for quick lookups of common sizes.

What is Rebar Weight Calculator?

The weight of steel reinforcement bars is calculated using the formula W = d²/162, where d is the bar diameter in millimeters and W is the weight in kg per meter. This formula is the standard in Egyptian, Middle Eastern, and many international construction codes.

This tool provides both the exact calculation (using steel density of 7850 kg/m³) and the d²/162 approximation. A reference table with common bar sizes (Ø6 to Ø40) is included with weight per meter, cross-sectional area, and number of bars per ton.

FAQ

What is the d²/162 formula?
It's the simplified formula for steel bar weight: weight (kg/m) = diameter² / 162. For a 16mm bar: 16²/162 = 256/162 = 1.580 kg/m. The exact formula uses the steel density of 7850 kg/m³.
What bar diameters are supported?
Standard diameters from 6mm to 40mm: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 32, 36, 40mm.
