What is DEWA Bill Calculator?

DEWA (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) bills consist of four main components: electricity consumption charged on a tiered slab system, water consumption also on a slab system, a variable fuel surcharge, and the Dubai Municipality housing fee (5% of annual rent divided into 12 monthly installments).

The residential electricity slab rates are: 23 fils/kWh for the first 2,000 kWh, 28 fils/kWh for 2,001-4,000 kWh, 32 fils/kWh for 4,001-6,000 kWh, and 38 fils/kWh above 6,000 kWh. The fuel surcharge fluctuates monthly (typically around 6.5 fils/kWh). This calculator provides estimates — your actual bill will depend on exact meter readings and the month's fuel surcharge rate.

FAQ

What are the current DEWA slab rates?
Residential rates (as of 2025): 0-2,000 kWh at 23 fils/kWh, 2,001-4,000 at 28 fils, 4,001-6,000 at 32 fils, and 6,000+ at 38 fils. Water: 0-3,000 gallons at 3.5 fils/gal, 3,001-6,000 at 4 fils, 6,000+ at 4.6 fils.
What is the Dubai housing fee?
The Dubai Municipality charges a housing fee of 5% of your annual rent, collected in 12 equal monthly installments through your DEWA bill. For example, if your annual rent is AED 90,000, you pay AED 375 per month (5% x 90,000 / 12).
How accurate is this estimate?
This is an estimate based on DEWA's published slab rates. Your actual bill will vary based on exact meter readings, the current month's fuel surcharge (updated monthly by DEWA), and any additional municipality fees or adjustments.
What is the fuel surcharge?
The fuel surcharge is a variable charge added to each kWh of electricity, reflecting global fuel prices. DEWA updates this rate monthly. It typically ranges between 5-8 fils/kWh.
