PNG to JPG vs JPG to PNG
PNG to JPG and JPG to PNG do opposite things. PNG to JPG converts a PNG (transparency, lossless) into a JPEG (smaller, lossy). JPG to PNG reverses that, adding transparency support and lossless storage — though it cannot recover detail already lost in the original JPEG.
Choose PNG to JPG when you need smaller files for web photography, email, or social media where transparency is not needed. Choose JPG to PNG when you need transparency, higher editing quality, or when a site specifically requires PNG.
If file size is the priority, converting to JPG wins. If quality and flexibility matter — especially transparency — converting to PNG is better. Note that a highly compressed JPG converted to PNG will be larger without recovering lost detail.
