How to use Ukulele Tuner

  1. Click Start Tuner and allow microphone access.
  2. Pluck one ukulele string at a time and let the note ring.
  3. Tune each peg until the display shows green and the cents are within ±5 of the target note.

What is Ukulele Tuner?

This ukulele tuner works with the most common tuning: G C E A, also known as C tuning or re-entrant tuning. The G string is tuned to G4 (392 Hz) — higher than the C4 string below it — which gives the ukulele its characteristic bright, chiming sound.

Pluck a single string, hold it steady, and the autocorrelation detector identifies the fundamental frequency and maps it to the nearest note. The cents gauge shows you exactly how far off you are and in which direction to adjust.

All processing is client-side — your audio never leaves your browser.

FAQ

What tuning does this support?
Standard C tuning (G4 C4 E4 A4), which is the most common tuning for soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles. It is also called 're-entrant' or 'high-G' tuning because the G string is tuned higher than the C string.
Can I use this for baritone ukulele (DGBE)?
The tuner detects any chromatic note, so yes — it will work for baritone tuning (D3 G3 B3 E4) as well. Just ignore the string labels and tune each string to its target note.
Why does my ukulele go out of tune so quickly?
New nylon strings stretch significantly. It can take a few days of playing and retuning for them to stabilize. This tuner makes quick touch-ups easy.
Is my audio recorded or stored?
No. All pitch detection happens locally in your browser using the Web Audio API. No audio data is ever recorded, stored, or uploaded.
