What is Average Calculator?

This calculator computes the most common summary statistics for a set of numbers. The mean is the sum divided by the count, the median is the middle value when the numbers are sorted, and the mode is the value (or values) that appear most often. It also reports the sum, smallest and largest values, and the range (max minus min).

It accepts numbers separated by spaces, commas, semicolons, or new lines, so you can paste straight from a spreadsheet column or a sentence. All processing happens in your browser.

FAQ

What is the difference between mean, median, and mode?
The mean is the arithmetic average. The median is the middle value once the numbers are sorted (resistant to outliers). The mode is the most frequently occurring value.
What if there is no repeated value?
If every number is unique there is no mode, so the mode field shows a dash. If several values tie for most frequent, all of them are listed.
How are decimals and negatives handled?
Both are fully supported. Any token that is not a valid number is ignored, so stray text in your input will not break the result.
